Wolfgang Tillmans
The photographs of Wolfgang Tillmans (born 1968) have been published in major fashion and music magazines since 1990 and exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe and the U.S. His pictures are of political activists, gays and heteros, punks and all who live on society's borderlines - and any distinction between photography and reportage is irrelevant to them. Tillmans' photos are subjective, a narrative about his own milieu, but taken together they add up to a measure portrayal of a generation that is all too often presented in mere clichés and stereotypes.
